Allowing the negative thoughts, anxiety, stress, worrying, and lack of sleep to pile up causes actual damage to the brain. This damage causes many different mental health issues if not taken care of. There is increasing evidence, as doctors begin to research the topic more, that several parts of the brain actually decreases in size for people who have those symptoms. The more severe and regular the symptoms are, the worse the damage is to the brain.
The continuous neglect eventually catches up with you. That is why it is important to know what the signs are that you mental health might be on a negative spiral, even if you think you are handling things ok. The more commonly known symptoms that cause people to question their mental health include depression, delusions, and a variety of different hallucinations. However, these are some signs not commonly discussed. Unusual Sensations There are some physical side effects that may help you look into your mental health, which could easily be looked at as a symptom of some other bodily ailment. These side-effects include feeling lightheaded, having shortness of breath, or tingles or chills spreading across your body. You may experience panic attacks. Or maybe a feeling as though something is poking you or touching you. Be extra aware of you feel the ground moving or a bed or chair shaking, like there’s an earthquake happening in which only you can feel. They all should be means to ensure that you are feeling healthy mentally and don’t have any triggers or other signs that it’s declining. Irregular Energy Levels and Emotions We all have our days of high and low energy, but pay attention if it swings vastly and often. You should be cautious if you are increasing becoming more energetic, creative with your ideas and plans, want to start new projects. It will feel as though you have become overall really productive and are solving problems, even if you haven’t had much sleep. This may appear to be a good thing, but if it is out of character for you personally then take a second look at other things going on in your life. Also, the same applies if the opposite happens, where you are wanting to hibernate in your room and avoid the real world, so you can sleep and feel moody. You might be overwhelmed by life, have irrational or extreme emotions, and feel fatigued. Psychics and Psychic Powers Visiting Psychics can be fun. However, it you find yourself visiting them often it is another red flag. Especially, if you are giving them a lot of money, and buying a lot of talismans and protection rituals. While Psychics may have interesting talents, they can also be manipulative and use their powers and charisma negatively. If your mental health is already teetering, you may be more susceptible to being convinced by a Psychic that something horrible is, or will, happen to you. In addition, if you all of a sudden have Psychic powers that you’ve never had before it may be more than a spiritual awakening. These powers could include seeing auras, reading minds, manipulating energy, being able to cast spells or curse others. Believing that you are powerful or magical out of the blue should cause you to be concerned about you mental health. Conspiracy Theories It’s one thing to be interested in conspiracy theories and curious about the truth behind them. You aren’t alone in that, as many people are. However, when you find yourself creating many of your own, think again. Spending too much time worrying or brooding about things you can’t prove should be a concern. When you find yourself trying to convince others in your hundreds of theories and mysteries happening, try to take a step back and question why is it so important. Maybe something else is going on inside your brain instead. Mental health issues cause what is called ‘racing thoughts’, and during that phase people become very creative. Supernatural Sightings If you find yourself face to face with supernatural creatures like ghosts, demons, humanoids, or aliens don’t panic, they could be a figment of your imagination. Especially, if you are seeing them regularly. I’m not saying stumbling upon an unusual creature isn’t possible, many people across the globe report sightings, and you are not alone if you believe in the supernatural. But these sightings typical don’t make a habitat In your home and harass people. I would definitely mention seeing them a psychiatrist as soon as possible, especially if they keep coming back, or more paranormal events happen. Paranoia Paranoia is more of an obvious sign, but one that certainly shouldn’t be taken lightly. If you start thinking people are trying to sabotage your life, or worse off trying to hurt or kill you, talk to a psychiatrist. This kind of stress will add to your already stressful life and expedite other issues to present themselves. Disconnecting Dig a little deeper, and try to be honest with yourself if you feel you can’t relate to people anymore. It is quite common to have intermittent times that you need to spend alone, but if you find yourself avoiding calls, not replying to texts, not visiting your friends or family for a longer period of time, those are definitely red flags to be aware of. When people start to isolate themselves, they lose the opportunity for someone to see mental health warning signs and help intervene before it gets worse. Super Sonic/Unusual Hearing Abilities Another sign is if you all of a sudden can hear things that no one else hears. Such as, someone calling your name from a distance. Or if you hear people talking in another room or even a different building. Especially, if they are talking about you. Definitely make a doctor's appointment if you have voices in your, or think people can hear/know what you are thinking about. People Say You’re Crazy Lastly, if someone you love, and you know loves you back, starts questioning your thought process or becomes worried about you, don’t dismiss it. Give them the benefit of the doubt, and hear them out. Be honest with yourself. As real as these events seem to you, there is a chance it is just your incredibly powerful brain being extra creative. If you become immediately defensive, especially in a very negative way, that also could be a warning sign. Ask why did that offend you so much, when they are just expressing concern for your health. People should feel grateful someone cares enough to talk to you about it. Conduct a little survey by talking to more people to see what they think too. What’s tricky about these mental health symptoms is you don’t always see them coming. They creep up so slowly that they are barely noticeable on a day to day basis, and people dismiss the symptoms. Don’t think it can’t or won’t happen to you. It is easier to occur than you think and can happen to anyone. It’s much better to catch it early before you cause more damage to your brain, and potentially end up experiencing psychosis. Take some time to learn how to decompress, meditate and genuinely relax your body and mind. Those techniques, along with exercise, nourishment, and learning something new, actually helps heal the damage that is done to the brain. That healing process is called neuroplasticity. It is one of the most amazing facts discovered about the brain.
